About Graduate Diploma In Management in Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology

This programme is designed to give people who already have a degree or extensive business experience an opportunity to extend their knowledge into the field of management without having to complete another degree.

This qualification allows you to add a specialisation in management to further your career.

You will use your existing graduate skills or extensive experience to start your business study at the equivalent level to the final year of a business degree.

Pursue higher level careers in management. This programme is ideal if you are seeking promotion in your existing employment, wish to widen your skill and knowledge base and keep ahead in the knowledge game or if you are considering a career change, including self-employment.

Your studies will see you apply a range of advanced management principles and concepts to creatively address marketing issues in a range of organisational contexts.

Employment pathways

As a graduate of this programme, you will be qualified to work in a range of management disciplines in both the public and private sector organisations including production management, general management and project management.

Graduate outcomes

Graduates of this programme will be able to:

• Demonstrate and apply core business competences such as - but not limited to - critical thinking, decision making, negotiation, presentation, problem solving, managing self and others.
• Research, assess and critically evaluate business information relevant to their selected business areas and business environment and communicate this information in both written and oral form.
• Evaluate and adopt different approaches to decision making as required by the environment.
• Practise business in a legal, sustainable, ethical and culturally appropriate manner.
• Apply advanced management principles and concepts to creatively address management issues in a range of organisational contexts.

Academic qualification equivalents

• An undergraduate degree from an overseas tertiary institution, deemed by the New Zealand Qualifications 

English language requirements (one of the below):

• IELTS        :       overall academic score of at least 6.0 (with at least 5.5 in each band)
• TOEFL      :       Score of 60 (with a writing score of 20)
• PTE           :      Academic) score of 50
